Here are some tips for preparing for the office move:

Labeling: Use a numbering system that identifies each individual work area and the pieces within it. For example, 28-6 would mean work area 28, item number 6. Tag every item in a work area, right down to the floor mat and trash cans. Then create a floor plan of the new area with the numbers to show where to move things.

Metal shelving: Remove all items, but disassembling is usually not required.

Partitions: Movers can disassemble most office partitions, but make sure they do not require the services of an electrician or other professional technician.

Personal belongings: It is usually best if your employees remove and transport all their personal belongings and office decorations themselves.

Phone and Internet: You know how important it is for your employees to stay in touch with your customers, so plan as far ahead as possible to make sure your phones and Internet connections are ready when you move. Phones can often be set up to ring in both locations for a while.

Timing: Companies often plan their office moves for evenings or weekends to minimize business interruption.
